SPKN - ELEVATING SPORT LEADERSHIP The Sport Professional Knowledge Network (SPKN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to provide sport leaders with the evidence-based knowledge and tools necessary to develop all today’s athletes – mentally, physically, and emotionally. The SPKN Sport Knowledge Center (SKC) is a central hub, providing both informal and formal approaches to professional development. It aims to enhance the capabilities of coaches, thereby positively influencing young athletes' performance, life skills, and mental wellness. The SKC features three programs: Original Video Series, Research & Resource Center, and SPKN Academy. These programs provide structured education, peer-reviewed resources, and insights from significant sport figures and scholars. The goal is to help them create well-rounded champions, excelling both on and off the field, and guidance for young athletes that support them through life. A first of its kind, SPKN’s Editorial Board, led by co-founder Dr. Brian Gearity and Board Member Dr. Jay Coakley, will provide peer-reviewed oversight of the Sport Knowledge Center’s content rather than driven by an algorithm or clicks. The SPKN's strategic framework is designed to provide sport leaders with an enriched knowledge base focused on athletes' holistic development and promote the ongoing development of essential tools and skills, including: Skill Development, Communication & Team Culture, Sport Psychology, Social Issues & Ethics, Nutrition, and Sport Science & Technology. SPKN’s Board of Directors and Advisory Board members represent an impressive range of sport professional experience who are united in SPKN’s mission and believe that peer-reviewed sport knowledge and accessible scholarship in the hands of sport industry professionals will lead to a better workforce and better athlete experience.
