The folks at Port of Seattle were kind enough to share this amazing picture of MV Propeller at Fisherman's Terminal, framed by a rainbow.

Propeller Club - Port of Seattle Our next big project: Refit and Rehab of our beloved training vessel "PROPELLER." Her stout construction and heavy workboat qualities make her irreplaceable as a Sea Scouting platform. She has continuously operated as a Sea Scout boat since 1985 and she's due for some deep rehabilitation work. Propeller's venerable Caterpillar D343 engine has become obsolete and inefficient by today's standards so we plan to repower the boat. This will be a fun series of projects that we'd like to complete over the next two to three years. Each project is an educational opportunity for Scouts, and potentially for students in HS skilled trades programs. - Repower - Painting and preservation. - Renovate crew accommodations spaces. - Repair and renew selected topside steel elements. - Upgrade egress pathways from crew accommodations to comply with new USCG regs. - Strip away disused equipment. - Repair/upgrade bulwarks and lifelines. Our goal will be to ensure Propeller can serve youth for at least the next 10-15 years - or longer. NEEDS: Volunteers to help with the work. Local shipyard assistance. Funding: we'll need to raise money. Preliminary estimates are $350k over 2-3 years. (cash and in-kind donations)

Too many boats! We're making progress on disposal of disused boats. The old, wooden, 35' Chriscraft is gone. The 35' wooden sloop will be gone soon. That'll leave just three surplus fiberglass sailboats. Catalina 14 San Juan 21 Ranger 26 All three are "projects boats." The method of disposal will be determined soon.

Many kids play little league sports. Few ever become professional athletes. The experience of being on a team is priceless. Relatively few teenagers become Sea Scouts. Many of them become professional seafarers.? Many also become Coastguardsmen and USN Sailors. Join Sea Scouts! Support Sea Scouting!
