The past few days, I’ve been sitting with several leaders of organizations discussing team impact in such a charged and divided political climate. This isn't a one-size-fits-all prescription but simply a few key suggestions on ways to support and encourage EVERYONE. I hope this helps. You got this! 1?? Make room and acknowledge that there are heavy and big thoughts and emotions now and in the days ahead. It’s important for people to know it’s completely okay to feel whatever comes up. This empathy and respect can help create a safe space for processing and support. 2?? Encourage the team to lean into the organization’s purpose and values. While personal beliefs and values WILL be impacted, leaning and focusing on your shared mission can offer grounding and remind everyone that we’re all part of something bigger, something meaningful. 3?? Offer for people to step away and take moments for personal reflection to help people recharge. Encourage them to step away briefly, take a walk, or talk to someone they trust. This isn’t about a long retreat but brief, intentional moments to gather oneself. Even a small pause can help team members return with more clarity, resilience, and a sense of collective purpose. Leadership isn’t easy, and the world around your organization certainly doesn’t always help, but these steps can help everyone feel seen and supported. Two weeks ago, we got to teach a Human-Centered Design session at the ChangeMaker Bootcamp! ?? This boot camp is the now brought-to-life vision of Bala Mulloth, Ph.D. You’ll want to be on the lookout for more to come! Out of over 150 applicants, 12 rockstar students were selected to build 6 venture pitches. Ideas ranged from real estate crowdfunding for affordable housing to transforming healthcare environments and patient engagement through creative escape rooms! ??
