As we watch the devastating fires unfold in Los Angeles, our hearts go out to those affected—the families, first responders, and communities navigating this unimaginable loss. Here in Hawai‘i, we deeply understand the emotional weight of such disasters.
The Maui fires in 2022 left scars that will take years to heal. Beyond the physical destruction, wildfires uproot lives, shatter communities, and leave lasting emotional wounds. Anxiety, grief, and a sense of helplessness are common—and it’s okay to feel those things.
?? Here’s what we’ve learned through our own recovery journey:
?? Check on each other. Whether it’s a text, a call, or a cup of tea together, connection is a lifeline.
?? It’s okay to not be okay. Healing takes time, and mental health support is vital for recovery.
?? Communities are resilient. When we come together, we can rebuild stronger than before—both physically and emotionally.
At Spill The Tea Café, we’ve seen how vital safe spaces and mental health support are during times of crisis. To our neighbors in LA: you are not alone. Lean on each other, seek support, and know there is a community here in Hawai‘i that understands and stands with you.
Let’s hold space for those affected, and continue to advocate for communities impacted by disasters everywhere. ??
