? Gabriella Reyes, one of our 2025 Sphinx Medal of Excellence Honorees, is recognized for her dynamic contributions to classical music. Awarded with Sphinx’s highest honor, the Medal of Excellence, and a $50,000 career grant, Gabriella continues to inspire audiences worldwide with her “radiant” voice, as described by The New York Times. ??? “I am deeply grateful to receive this prestigious recognition from the Sphinx Organization and to join the incredibly talented group of past recipients who are dedicated to sharing their gifts with the world. Nicaraguan American soprano Gabriella Reyes is one of the most exciting artists in music today. A former member of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program at the Met, she will perform major roles at the Met Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago this season, including Margarita Xirgu in Ainadamar and Mimì in La bohème. SOPA (Sphinx Orchestral Partners Auditions) provides aspiring orchestral musicians with the unique opportunity to participate in professional auditions, secure pre-advancements, and be considered for placement on substitute and contractor lists, all while addressing the need for greater representation on stage. ?? Musicians selected will also compete for cash prizes ranging from $250 to $3,500. Round 1 starts on October 28th, with Round 2 as a live audition at the Sphinx Convening in Detroit, MI, on January 22nd, 2025. ??
