On-Road Emissions Modeling Tool for Caltrans: CT-EMFAC ?? https://lnkd.in/guPUayDm Building on work completed over many years involving Sonoma Technology, U.C. Davis, and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), we continue to help Caltrans improve and expand the capabilities of the emissions modeling tool called CT-EMFAC. The tool quantifies on-road emissions of greenhouse gases (CO2e), criteria pollutants, and mobile source air toxics (MSATs) that originate from transportation projects. CT-EMFAC also estimates related electricity/fuel consumption to support energy assessments and enables users to develop inputs for near-road dispersion modeling with EPA’s AERMOD model.

Planet Earth has lots of water—but it takes energy to purify it, transport it, or collect it. We already know what it takes to avert excessive accumulation of climate-warming gases—but it takes energy to capture those gases, and it takes energy to power transportation, warm homes, and run businesses. I am optimistic that engineering and technology will play the heroes’ leading roles in mitigating a warming planet."
