Did you know an updated National Career Clusters? Framework was launched in Fall 2024? Here's what you need to know. What Is the CTE National Career Clusters? Framework? First launched in 2002, the CTE National Career Clusters? Framework is a comprehensive map of career paths and vocational skills, carefully sorted into categories and subcategories to help administrators navigate useful CTE courses. What’s Changed in the Framework? As of 2025, the Framework consists of five Cluster Groupings, 14 Career Clusters, and 72 Sub-Clusters. Three of the 14 Clusters are defined as “Cross-Cutting Clusters,” as they relate to careers that intersect with various fields across the Framework. The new Framework replaces the previous 16 Clusters with more helpful groupings. What role do I play as an Administrator in Implementing CTE? Local CTE leaders (district-level CTE directors, superintendents, principals, and others) play a big role in the implementation of CTE programs. Three key responsibilities for administrators implementing CTE programs include: - Designing a High-Quality Program - Guiding Educators - Working with Local Employers and Industry Where do I start? Schools offering CTE programs can use Sphero’s educational tools, such as coding robots, to devise a modern, career-focused curriculum, particularly in the Advanced Manufacturing Cluster and the Sub-Clusters of Engineering and Robotics. Everywhere I go I'm hearing more and more about CTE (Career Technical Education) and the more time I spend on LinkedIn looking at different jobs and career opportunities for kids, the more trends I see leading right back to CTE. I've been a Super Fan of Sphero for over a decade and their products just really prepare kids to think critically, solve problems, collaborate, build, think, connect, communicate and prepare them for whatever job they may go after. Sphero Maze STEM Project This term, I completed what is probably the most successful project of my teaching career with my Year 5 class. We designed and built Sphero mazes using wood, combining creativity, problem-solving, and STEM skills in an unforgettable learning experience. We started by mapping out our maze paths with Kapla blocks, refining the designs before replacing them with masking tape. The children then measured the tape and cut wood to match the exact dimensions, carefully replacing the tape with their wooden structures. After came the creativity as they used different themes to decorate each maze. Finally the most exciting part—programming the Spheros to navigate the mazes! Watching the pupils test, troubleshoot, and refine their coding was incredibly rewarding. #STEM #Sphero #iPad #Creativity
