The group kicked off its inaugural event by joining forces with the American Heart Association for the 2024 Houston Heart Walk. On a crisp Saturday morning in downtown Houston, Alliance team members gathered as early as 8:00 am, ready to participate in both 1K and 5K walks designed to promote heart and mental health awareness. "When we put together this initiative, we wanted to make a real difference in our community," says Gigi Lujan, HRBP. "What we didn't expect was the overwhelming sense of celebration and support we received from the community. It's this feeling that drives us to make this an annual commitment." The impact of Alliance H-Town Gives Back extends beyond physical participation. Through Alliance Cares, the company's charitable arm, significant donations are supporting the American Heart Association's life-saving research and scientific initiatives. As the nation's oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke, the American Heart Association's mission aligns perfectly with Alliance's commitment to community wellness. The success of this inaugural event has already sparked plans for the future. During the Heart Walk, participating team members formed a committee to discuss and plan initiatives for 2025, with the goal of expanding their support to other worthy causes and nonprofits in the Houston area. “The enthusiasm and dedication shown by our team members have been incredible. Our Speed Queen team provides comfort and cleanliness in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl We are thankful that our team members in southeastern Texas are safe after Hurricane Beryl caused massive devastation in their state. These spirited employees are back at work and the Speed Queen laundromats in the Houston, Pasadena, and Baytown areas are all open, providing desperately needed services. ? One week after the storm, hundreds of thousands of people are still without power and many are without water. Fortunately, our laundromats are back?online. They are functioning not only as a place to clean clothes, but also as a place to keep cool and charge electronic devices. These services are critical as temperatures hover in the mid-90’s and power outages continue. ? “It is an honor getting to serve and provide a clean, safe, friendly place for our community… especially right now!” said Michelle Ly, Speed Queen Franchise Training Specialist. “It has been an exhausting week, but a rewarding one.” Many of our team members did not have electricity and water in their own homes for several days, yet they worked tirelessly to get the stores up and running. Kudos to these teams for their persistence and grit as they brought service back to their customers.
