-From the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” – officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.” Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The restoration of the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

Thanks again to everyone who attended our SPECTRUM Boat Outing which embarked out of the Port of Excelsior on Lake Minnetonka yesterday afternoon. It was slightly windy on the "high seas", but overall, a beautiful day. The food and drink were great, thanks to Paradise Charter Cruises & Minneapolis Queen, and the comradery of our guests was priceless. We're already looking forward to next year's boat outing.

Have a safe and fun Independence Day from your friends at SPECTRUM Commercial Finance! A "snippet" of Independence Day history for the Minneapolis-St. Paul area related to that All-American sport, baseball. This is an excerpt of a newspaper article by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune writer Parick Reusse: Baseball was as anticipated as fireworks on July 4th for many decades in the Twin Cities. The (St. Paul) Saints and the (Minneapolis) Millers would play a doubleheader, with a morning game in one ballpark and an afternoon game in the other. This was also done for Memorial Day and Labor Day, but the 4th was the heart of summer, and baseball season. The Millers' Nicollet Park was located next to Lake Street. The Saints' Lexington Park was located a short walk from Marshall Avenue. Same street, different cities. There was trolley service into the early 1950s and fans would ride from one game to the next. Another fun fact related to Minneapolis-St. Paul baseball, the great Willie Mays, played for the Minneapolis Millers for a short period of time in 1951 during the month of May then called up to the New York Giants. Unfortunately, the Twin Cities fans didn't get to see him play on Independence Day.

Ryan Baker did not "Hem and Haw" around with this new client. He "seamlessly" found a financing solution for this specialty apparel business. SPECTRUM Commercial Finance continues to have a great year! We plan on continuing to attract suit-ors and that's not tie-ring.

Juneteenth (June 19th) marks the day when federal troops arrived in?Galveston,?Texas?in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the?Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. ? Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday.?June 19th officially became a federal holiday in 2021. ? I encourage you to read more about Juneteenth here: The Historical Legacy of Juneteenth | National Museum of African American History and Culture (si.edu) (See below) Also, here is some of the text from the Emancipation Proclamation: ? "That on the first day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, all persons held as slaves within any State or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free; and the Executive Government of the United States, including the military and naval authority thereof, will recognize and maintain the freedom of such persons, and will do no act or acts to repress such persons, or any of them, in any efforts they may make for their actual freedom” Abraham Lincoln ? ? You should know this, but if not, The Emancipation Proclamation did not lead to the Civil War. The Civil War started two years earlier in 1861, primarily over disagreements over slavery, and ended in 1865.
