Starting January 2026, food manufacturers will only be allowed to use the new calculation method for the Nutri-Score, which was published at the beginning of 2024. In particular, the specifications for sugar and salt content have become stricter, with sugar now having stronger parameters and a shift from sodium to salt for salt measurements. This means manufacturers must take more negative points into account for these two parameters. Fiber and protein will also be considered positive points, and both will be weighted more heavily. The overall trend is moving towards natural products containing less sugar and salt but more fiber and protein. This is primarily a task for the software, as the recipe calculation is now different.
