BREAKING NEWS: President Trump has announced a 25% tariff on imported passenger vehicles and light trucks (effective April 3) and key auto parts (including engines, transmissions, and electrical components) at a later date—no later than May 3. ?? USMCA-compliant auto parts will remain tariff-free for now, but tariffs will apply to non-U.S. content once a certification process is established. ?? The Secretary of Commerce will have 90 days to determine if additional auto parts should be included in the tariffs. ?? Industry associations and domestic producers can request additional parts be added, with decisions expected within 60 days of a request.
