We’re thankful for the community leaders who serve on our Board of Directors like Tyler Gee. He has been involved with Special Olympics Utah (SOUT) since 2013, starting as a Unified Basketball coach, and has been a board member since 2019. Tyler’s daughter Sydnee is a Special Olympics athlete and has been competing in SOUT events for a decade! A favorite SOUT memory for Tyler is attending the 2022 USA games in Orlando where he enjoyed cheering on our Utah athletes. “Seeing their families enjoy the experience of watching their athletes participate was very emotional for me,” he said. Tyler especially appreciates getting to attend SOUT University events where athletes and their parents learn about services and general educational opportunities. “Participating with SOUT has been one of the greatest opportunities of my life. I always walk away from every event feeling so grateful for the opportunity to serve. I have made some of the greatest friendships with other board members, volunteers, and athletes. Many of my GBS Benefits, Inc. coworkers, clients, insurance companies and their employees have been so supportive and donated much of their time and money to support me and the Mission of Special Olympics. A huge step today for Special Olympics Utah, Southern Utah University, Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games, and ShowUp, signing a three-year agreement to host the Special Olympics Utah Summer Games on the SUU campus. This is great news for our athletes, and it will give them the opportunity to compete on a big stage. We love these organizations living out the #inclusionrevolution .
