Special Love Family,  The Special Love Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Elena Jeannotte as the new Executive Director, effective December 2. This transition follows the announcement of Jan Bresch’s retirement after six years of dedicated service to our organization. Jan has been instrumental in leading Special Love and positioning the organization for the future. As Jan stated, “It has been an honor to serve alongside such passionate individuals. I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together and excited for what lies ahead.” We extend our deepest gratitude for all of Jan’s dedication, commitment, and passion for the organization over the years. Elena joins us with extensive experience in the nonprofit executive community, bringing over 20 years of dedication to the healthcare sector, particularly in cancer research and survivorship. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing cancer care and survivorship programs. As Elena remarked, “I am thrilled to join Special Love and continue its vital mission. Together, we will enhance the support and resources available to those impacted by cancer.” Elena has deep roots in the cancer space. She co-founded the Roy L. Jeannotte Memorial Foundation in honor of her father, where she raised significant funds for esophageal cancer research. She also held leadership roles at Georgetown University, generating support for the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Most recently, she served as a senior leader at the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), advancing advocacy and policy efforts to improve the quality of life for cancer survivors. Her personal connection to the Special Love mission, combined with her professional expertise, positions her to lead our organization into its next chapter. The SL Board President, Maria Kenny, echoes her sentiment: “Elena’s wealth of experience and heartfelt commitment to our cause will be invaluable as we move forward.” The SL Board is excited to welcome Elena to our team, and we know her experience and perspective will greatly enhance our efforts to serve our community. On Saturday, Special Love, Inc. hosted its inaugural Moving Forward Forum for young adult cancer patients and survivors. The response was overwhelming, with one survivor sharing; "Today was a full day of emotions and excitement. It was great learning many new things I need to do for myself, and it was great seeing so many cancer survivors in one place. Many of us exchanged phone numbers and I hope to spend more time with them and see what else lies ahead!"
