Last night, attorney Jordan Ahlers-Smith was awarded the Ingham County Bar Associations 2025 Top 5 Under 35 Award at their 16th Annual Barrister's Night! This award recognizes young lawyers who have distinguished themselves in their relatively short career. What a great night celebrating not only one of our own, but 4 other very talented young practitioners in Ingham County. We are very proud of you, Jordan!

In honor of Women's History Month, we are highlighting some of the trailblazing women found within the Michigan Supreme Court's history. #WomensHistoryMonth Prior to her time at the Michigan Court of Appeals and Michigan Supreme Court, Marilyn Jean Kelly served as the State Board of Education's Vice President and was the only woman on the board at the time. After graduating from Wayne State University, she practiced law for 17 years before running for judge. Marilyn then served 8 years as a Judge on the Michigan Court of Appeals and then 16 years as a Justice on the Michigan Supreme Court - later being elected as Chief Justice. Marilyn is a huge advocate for family law issues, and advocates for better legal resources for everyone through what is now Michigan Legal Help.
