We are just a week away from the next big Congressional action on Medicaid. Congress has a decision to make: will it continue to invest in the largest program giving millions of youth access to mental health services or will it turn its back on our kids and prolong the current mental health crisis resulting in suicide as leading cause of death for our youth. Kids continue to struggle with significant mental health needs. Medicaid is the path to mental health care for half of our kids and the only program that provides comprehensive access to everything from in home and school based services to inpatient care.
