Celebrating Thanksgiving is a family affair, so be sure to consider the safety of your furry family member(s) this week! ? Here are a few things to remember. 1.??Feeding pets turkey is a no-no. It has too much fat and the brittle bones easily can puncture a pet’s digestive system. 2.??Keep pets away from holiday decorations including candles, potpourri and flower arrangements. 3.??Foods we love can be poisonous to our pets. Don’t feed your pets grapes/raisins, onions, chocolate, yeast dough, pie filling, raw eggs/meat, Xylitol or alcohol. 4.??Make sure your pets are microchipped and are wearing ID tags that include your name and phone number just in case a door is left open by mistake. 5.??Pure, canned pumpkin (not pie filling) is a delicious treat that is actually good for your pets! ? Here’s wishing you a wonderful holiday celebration! #HappyThanksgiving #NoChocolateForPets #NoTurkeyForPets #MicrochipYourPet #PumpkinIsGood #PetsAreFamily

In September 2024, New Tech High School At Coppell invited the SPCA of Texas to their amazing community event with the goal of connecting students with nonprofits doing incredible work. ? Following the community event, the high school students voted on which nonprofit would be their partner for the school year. Luckily for us, they picked the SPCA of Texas and jumped right in to organize volunteer days, fundraisers and donation drives to help our shelter pets. ? Last week, 33 students from New Tech High School came to the Dallas Animal Care Center to work. And work they did! In addition to a shelter tour, the students created animal enrichment toys and treats, sorted and organized donations, created care packages for community outreach, and worked to clean kennels and refill pet water bowls. Our beautiful pup Patrick especially enjoyed working with the students!! (By the way, Patrick is available for adoption!) ? Our special thanks to these amazing young people for the compassion, dedication and curiosity they demonstrated during their afternoon of volunteering! ? #NewTechHighSchool #StudentVolunteers #Community #EnrichmentTreats #CommunityOutreach #PetsAreFamily #AdoptPatrick
