Spartan Logistics was founded in 1988 in Columbus, Ohio as a warehouse and distribution provider to service the growing industrial base and take advantage of Ohio’s centralized location. Today Spartan serves supply chain customers east of the Mississippi through locations in Ohio, Indiana, South Carolina, Arkansas, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri. In addition to third-party public warehousing, Spartan Logistics provides contract warehousing, fulfillment services, full-service transportation, industrial real estate brokerage, and warehouse construction. Spartan Logistics’ asset-based business model allows us to control long-term costs for our customers with a heightened level of quality control, no matter the market’s climate. Our investment also illustrates our long-term commitment to this industry, which allows us to hire the best possible people, who then deliver the supply chain solutions to our customers. Family-owned and operated, we value integrity, safety, service, teamwork, and respect. Our primary mission is to provide great service to happy customers, which results in full buildings staffed by passionate team members. We are excited to kickoff our meet the manager series! At Spartan, we have many great people throughout our 21 locations and we want to showcase those who contribute to our success! To begin, we are highlighting Shawn Rife, a warehouse manager who has been with the company for 24 years. Starting as a forklift driver, Shawn’s journey through various roles in our company highlights his adaptability, commitment, and growth within the logistics industry. Inspired by his father, who also works in the industry, Shawn quickly advanced to management roles, eventually overseeing operations across our Toledo locations. Known for his hands-on leadership, Shawn frequently assists his team directly on the warehouse floor, fostering trust and camaraderie. His leadership philosophy centers around teamwork, empathy, and maintaining a people-first approach. Shawn's adaptability is a main reason for his success; he’s worked with a variety of customers and product lines, learning from industry peers and embracing change. He values the importance of staying open-minded and continually learning. Shawn’s impact extends beyond operational excellence; he takes pride in supporting his team personally and professionally, ensuring they know he’s there to help them navigate challenges. Outside of work, Shawn enjoys family time, often playing pickleball with his kids. He lives by the motto, “Anything worth doing is worth doing right,” and believes in focusing on what can be controlled.
