?? Speech Tip: For children using lots of babbling e.g., "bababa" begin to model lots of play sounds e.g., animal sounds "baa", "moo"; vehicle sounds "vroom", "beep beep"; feeding sounds "mmm", "yum" alongside play and daily interactions. ?Why: Using play sounds is a prerequisite and bridge to early first words! ?? Practice 5 minutes a day, for 3-4 weeks and let me know how it goes! ??Repost to inspire, empower and educate for vital Speech and Language Therapy! Photo credit: Alamy

Early Intervention in Singapore: The What, Why, and When Ever wondered how early intervention can impact your child’s development? It’s not just a buzzword, it's a lifeline, especially for children facing developmental delays or disabilities. Early intervention focuses on giving your child the support they need from birth to 6 years old to develop vital skills like communication, motor functions, and social interactions. You might be thinking, “Is it really that important?” Well, here’s the thing: studies consistently show that kids who receive early intervention are better prepared for school, more confident, and develop stronger cognitive abilities. But it’s not just about addressing delays; it’s about preventing long-term challenges before they arise. And here’s where it gets interesting... While many parents hesitate, unsure of when to seek help, the sooner you act, the better the results. But what exactly does an Early Intervention Programme look like? Does it work? What’s included? I can tell you, the benefits are both immediate and long-term. Your child can start showing real progress in communication, socialization, and emotional regulation, while also getting stronger for academic success down the road. But why stop here? Want to learn how this can change your child’s future? Read more: https://lnkd.in/evMc5kJg

Wonderful description and flow chart!
Honorary/Emeritus Professor; Doctor | PhD, Multi award winning;Neurodivergent; CEO of tech/good company
This is my latest iteration of showing some ( but not all )of the common Neurodivergent conditions and associated conditions that are often spoken about. Central part of this focuses on some ( not all) strengths associated too. Diagnosis of conditions is still associated with challenges in specific areas despite conditions co-occurring and some traits being seen in more than one condition. Dys=difficulties This a deficit model that can lead us to feel shame, othered and different! We are all neurodiverse but some of us don't fit within the social construct of education and employment settings ( and society) and as a consequence find it harder to showcase their skills and abilities as a consequence. This can have a secondary impact on confidence, self esteem, relationships and wellbeing. Some people also have multiple areas of adversity in their lives and this can reduce the opportunity to gain support, recognition and where needed/wanted a diagnosis of one or more conditions. Services are often operating in silos resulting in people at times being misunderstood, misdiagnosed or diagnoses being missed. We too often operate a tight medical model which is not the actual reality ! Please see my LinkedIn Neurodiversity 101 newsletter’s where I go into far more detail and provide evidence for taking a biopsychosocial person centred approach. ?ADHD - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ?APD - Auditory Processing Disorder ASC- Autism Spectrum Conditions/ Disorders ?ARFID - Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder ?ASD - Autism Spectrum Disorder ?BD - Bipolar Disorder ?BECTS - Benign Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes ?BPD - Borderline Personality Disorder ?CP - Cerebral Palsy ?DCD - Developmental Coordination Disorder DLD - Developmental Language Disorder ?HI - Hearing Impairment ?JHS - Joint Hypermobility Syndrome ?OCD - Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder ?TBI - Traumatic Brain Injury ?VI - Visual Impairment
