关于我们
Dr. Gerard K. O’Neill founded the Space Studies Institute (SSI) in 1977 for the work to improve the human condition on Earth using the unlimited energy and resources of space. The Institute’s mission continues under the direction of President Gary C Hudson. We are a non-pro?t 501(c)(3) organization and we encourage you to join us. It is important work... and a doable goal.

Keith and Judy Holden lived in a little Texas town north of Austin. They raised their kids who then had their own kids and some of those even had more. The story goes that they were lovers of gaming including Dungeons and Dragons and Master of Orion which may seem odd for folks their ages, but it makes sense when you know some of their background. You see, they met while they were both working for NASA and Keith had done some good time with Lockheed Martin. He had a true passion for propulsion. And he, they, were planners. Late last year an accident took both of their lives. It was tragic. Out of the blue. Done and done. But the thing about being a planner is that it helps make the bigger picture go on relatively smoothly. Keith and Judy had left a set of instructions in their house for what should all be done on that faraway "someday." Why are we telling you this? Because they were real people like us and they deserve to be remembered. Keith and Judy's granddaughter had no idea who the Space Studies Institute was, she just loved them and wanted to do what they would have wanted. In their instructions, she told us, was a simple note to pack up all of their Space collection and get it to a place called SSI. She looked, she found, she called, we took care of it. To Keith and Judy, and the whole Holden family, our thanks. To all others: This addition of 11 very large containers now has to be gone through, organized and archived. It will take time and the safe storage will take money. SSI could really use your help. The Space Studies Institute is a non-pro?t 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions to SSI are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Please help. Make your contribution today at this url: SSI.ORG/Join

"LEAG was established in 2004 to support NASA in providing analysis of scientific, technical, commercial, and operational issues in support of lunar exploration objectives and their implications for lunar architecture planning and activity prioritization." But as of this typing the url https://lnkd.in/gQZSjeGw is still saying: LEAG Website Status The LEAG website is being reviewed in response to guidance given by NASA leadership.

Interesting. From a real-name source known for actually still checking details. And - it looks like - no paywall. https://lnkd.in/gnd9KiZH Space. The old-time "NewSpace"ers and "Space 2.0"ers all wanted it to eventually be just like any another regular mainstream business... hmmm.

Spin. Not big enough or long enough for the most important things, but more than others have done in generations. Here's what was done: https://lnkd.in/gReUdTWd And here's the real big reasons you should care: https://lnkd.in/gjHGa3Js

It is always an honor to be invited to the USC Viterbi School of Engineering.. SSI thanks the legendary Dr. James Wertz and the students in the 'Living on the Moon in the Next Decade' class for so warmly welcoming SSI Executive Director Robin Snelson and VP Robert Smith on Thursday night. It was a true pleasure to meet you all and speak *WITH* you about the logic of Luna. We hope that the SSI Library's loan of materials helps you in your studies and beyond - FAR BEYOND! Best to you, see you again soon ... and get to work, there's a real future for those who *do*. :)

Space Studies Institute co-founder Tasha O'Neill sent you this note: "Nice Article!" With the url for you to use being this: https://lnkd.in/g26yNUgX And hey, no one around the office has an account on the quillette site so we can't do a helpful mention for the good commenters at the end of the piece (No joke, their comments are refreshingly pretty smart.). So, if *YOU* have an account could you maybe just point those folks to the O'Neills' own organization for some possibly interesting realities on the topics that appear to be new some of them? We all love the NSS deeply, of course, but honestly the best place for backgrounds on O'Neill's High Frontier focus is the place that the O'Neills themselves founded for that purpose: The Space Studies Institute at SSI.ORG.
