Good news for #SmallBiz! AFWERX pre-released its latest Small Business Innovation Research (#SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (#STTR) Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) Topics (24.3C). SDA’s goal is to advance affordable, resilient, and interoperable technologies within the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (#PWSA) to support joint warfighting operations and enable all-domain command and control on a global scale. Toward that end, small companies are asked to provide novel and innovative technology that enables leap-ahead improvements for future tranches of currently planned PWSA capability layers or enable new capabilities to address other emerging or evolving warfighter needs. In addition, SDA is releasing a special topic, STTR Phase I - SF24C-T003 - Strengthening Space: Uniting Research and Innovation for PWSA (Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture), which will allow companies to apply for a larger Phase I STTR of $305K followed by a larger Phase II effort of $3M. SDA plans to select five companies for Phase I followed by a down-select of three companies for Phase II. Congratulations to the Tranche 0 team and our #industry and #government partners for successfully demonstrating an intersatellite laser connection between two Tranche 0 Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (#PWSA) satellites this week. The satellites held the connection for several hours! This week, SDA awarded our first Strategic Funding Increase, or STRATFI, project to Wildstar, LLC for a next generation narrowband Internet of Things (IoT) demonstration. The Wildstar STRATFI will be used to deploy a series of novel satellites into low Earth orbit (LEO). After launch, Wildstar will test the performance of their narrowband technology in various in-theater conditions. Wildstar’s satellites may also be used by the military as a testbed for future capabilities and to augment existing narrowband communication systems. Finally, their innovative manufacturing techniques could allow for rapid manufacturing and launch-on-demand to provide rapid reconstitution of capability in a conflict. The total value of the STRATFI award will be $60M in a cost-sharing agreement with $30M from the government and $30M from Wildstar. #SemperCitius #Defense #STRATFI #AFWERX #PWSA #Industry #SmallBusiness

SDA has received the warmest welcome since becoming a tenant on Grand Forks Air Force Base. We especially would like to thank Senator Kevin Cramer and the entire North Dakota delegation for their support for SDA and getting SDA to Grand Forks. SDA Operation Center - North and its counterpart at Redstone Arsenal will be ramping up to full operations as the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (#PWSA) prepares to deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter. Ever heard of STRATFI? We’ve been hearing a lot about it recently at SDA. In order to bridge the gap between early small business investment and production/fielding of key technologies and capabilities, the Department of the United States Air Force created the Strategic Funding Increase or #STRATFI program. This effort connects military end-users and acquisition professionals, private-sector innovators, and investors, resulting in small business investment scaling efforts that facilitate delivery of strategic capabilities for the #warfighter. Through a STRATFI agreement, a small business can potentially increase their strategic funding upwards of $15M. STRATFIs require various levels of matching funding and create avenues for Defense and/or industry matching, depending on the program.
