'Despite the heightened danger, Spirit 03 remained' In our most recent #SOWFocus, we reflect on the bravery of the Spirit 03 crew. Spirit 03, an AC-130H Spectre gunship, provided close air support to Coalition forces during the Battle of Khafji where it was tragically shot down resulting in the loss of all 14 crew members. The heroism and dedication of the Spirit 03 crew continue to be honored within the Air Force Special Operations community. LEADERSHIP STORY “You could feel that it was a family, and a very tight, kind of closed family as well.” Lieutenant General Tom Trask, USAF (Ret.) started his career thinking he’d only serve a few years, but 30 years later, he had flown in the invasion of Panama, the Gulf War, and Kosovo, eventually helping stand up the CV-22 schoolhouse. After an MH-60 crashed in Afghanistan, killing a crew of six and leaving behind six children, SOWF stepped in to help the families provide education to those children. Today, as an ambassador for?#SOWF?he continues to serve, ensuring the next generation of heroes and their families receive the support they deserve through our?#EnduringPromise.
