Honoring Sergeant First Class Alwyn C. Cashe ?? Sergeant First Class Alwyn C. Cashe was a true American hero. His selfless actions on October 17, 2005, in Salah Ad Din Province, Iraq, went above and beyond the call of duty and demonstrated unwavering courage to save his fellow soldiers. Despite sustaining life-threatening burns while rescuing his team from a burning vehicle, he refused medical evacuation until all soldiers were safe. For his extraordinary bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. Today, the #SOWF team is looking forward to celebrating the upcoming graduation of SFC Alwyn Cashe's daughter. We remain committed to our #EnduringPromise —providing the children of our nation’s fallen heroes with the support and opportunities their parents fought to protect. A former U.S. Army Special Operations officer with 16 years of service and over 3,500 flight hours, Luke has dedicated his life to leadership and innovation. Beyond the military, he has led operations at Uber Elevate and Joby Aviation and now serves as CEO of SkyFi, using satellite tech to drive impact. He also founded a nonprofit aiding Afghan refugees, exemplifying his commitment to service. ?? ENDURING PROMISE: 17 FOR 45 ???? As we move further into our 45th anniversary we reflect on #SOWF's origins. Operation Eagle Claw was the aborted attempt to rescue 53 Americans held hostage in the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran on April 24, 1980. The failed mission resulted in the loss of eight servicemen, seven helicopters, and one C-130. The eight service members lost that day left behind 17 children. For 45 years #SpecialOperationsWarriorFoundation has upheld the battlefield and #EnduringPromise to provide educations to the surviving children of those lost in the line of duty. "FEARLESS"—Today, we honor Senior Chief Petty Officer Adam Brown, who made the ultimate sacrifice on March 17, 2010, while serving with NSW DEVGRU. Adam’s journey was one of resilience—overcoming personal struggles, severe injuries, and impossible odds to serve at the highest level as a Navy SEAL. On his final mission, he bravely charged into enemy fire to protect his team, saving lives at the cost of his own. His legacy lives on through his wife, Kelley, and their children, Savannah and Nathan. Savannah, an SOWF graduate, is now studying law at SMU, while Nathan will graduate in May 2025 with a business degree.
