At a high-end office furniture manufacturing facility, production processes included a sanding operation to prepare the tops of conference tables for staining and final finishes. Operators at these sanding stations worked at 30" high work platforms - a height too low for comfortable sanding in hard to reach areas. The excessive bending and stretching led to numerous back complaints. To address this, 14 Southworth lift tables with large 24" x 48" platforms were installed, providing operators with a more ergonomic working height for improved comfort and efficiency. (SIGI) is pleased to announce the 2024 winners of three endowed scholarships, which are funded by our organization and managed through the Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. (MHEFI). The scholarships were created to support students seeking pathways to educational programs in material handling and supply chain industries—and to recognize and honor the significant contributions of two past SIGI leaders. ? ? Bryce Bullard - 2024 James Galante Memorial Scholarship Bryce is an Industrial Engineering student at Oklahoma State University. He is the owner of a lawn mowing business where he hires and manages staff, schedules and coordinates mower operations, and cultivates new client connections while strengthening relationships.?He is a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers at his school.?Bryce plans to complete his bachelor’s degree in three years and pursue a master’s degree during his fourth year in college.?After graduation, he would like to pursue a job in Supply Chain. ? Carolina Remond - 2024 Southworth International Group Honor Scholarship Carolina is a Supply Chain Management student at the University of Arkansas.?She is involved in Women Impacting Supply Chain Excellence (WISE) which has enabled her to develop valuable leadership and teamwork skills along with gaining a practical understanding of how supply chains operate in real-world scenarios.?She plans to enter the workforce after graduation. ? Julia Fitzgerald - 2024 Brian McNamara Honor Scholarship Julia is an Industrial Engineering student at the University of Pittsburgh.?She is currently involved in the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers at her school.?Julia enjoys books, traveling and is curious about how things work.?She wants to use her knowledge to solve supply chain and manufacturing problems and help people.?Julia plans to enter the workforce after graduation. Congratulations to Bryce, Julia, and Carolina for their well-deserved recognition!

Southworth was pleased to sponsor a recent event for Conveyors & Drives, Inc. and Drives, a dealer partner located in Atlanta, Georgia. The Open Haus Material Handling Expo was the first of its kind hosted by C&D. The Octoberfest-inspired event welcomed over 100 attendees and exhibitors from the southeast region and across the country.? ? Participants saw and learned about material handling equipment in the morning, and enjoyed a themed lunch— featuring German food and beer, polka music and raffles— in the afternoon. It was a great opportunity to engage with and support a valuable dealer partner and interact with their customers. ? Thanks to Conveyors and Drives, and to all our Southworth team members, who helped make it such a success!

Southworth's annual two-day sales training event in Arkansas has officially come to a close! Our distributors expanded their knowledge of how Southworth's ergonomic solutions can improve productivity and safety. The event also featured the generous hospitality of our Manila, AR team and delicious local eats. Our thanks to all who participated!
