In partnership with Carnegie Mellon University, our Executive Director, Rich Fitzgerald, joined a dynamic panel discussion to explore how connected infrastructure can enhance safety, efficiency, and equity in transportation systems. Rich explained our organization’s pivotal role in regional development, including infrastructure improvements, workforce initiatives, and economic development programs. Moderated by Costa Samaras, Director, Wilton E. Scott Institute for Energy Innovation at Carnegie Mellon University, attendees heard from a talented group of panelists: - Thomas Bauer, General Manager TTS, Miovision - Kim Lucas, CPM, Director, City of Pittsburgh, Department of Mobility and Infrastructure - Amber Reimnitz, PMP, ITS Multimodal Digital Infrastructure Program Manager, Federal Highway Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation - Paul Skoutelas, President and CEO, American Public Transportation Association Together, they shared insights into shaping the future of transportation systems to benefit all. #SWPA #workingtogether

Congratulations to Armstrong Trails on the grand reopening of the Brady Tunnel! Originally built in 1915 and closed to the public for decades, this remarkable 2,468-foot tunnel has been fully rehabilitated, opening up new possibilities for recreation and connection in our region. Now, with safe, non-motorized access through the tunnel, the Armstrong Trail connects seamlessly – linking 4 miles of trail to the north with 32 miles to the south, creating a complete 36-mile trail system! We can’t wait to see all the adventures, community connections, and new opportunities that this incredible milestone will bring to our trails and towns. Here’s to a brighter, more connected future for outdoor enthusiasts in #SWPA. Thank you Chris Ziegler for your tireless hard work on this project!
