Boost Focus and Take Back Control of Your Day As a business and sales coach, I know how easy it is to feel like your day controls you instead of the other way around. We’ve all been there—reacting to emails, messages, and calls, only to realize we didn’t accomplish what matters most. If you’re not running your day, it’s running you, which can quickly lead to burnout. Today, I’m sharing four practical strategies that can help you take back control, stay productive, and keep your focus strong. Let’s dive in! 1. Prioritize with the “Big Three” ?? Start each day by choosing the “Big Three”—the top three tasks you need to accomplish. Not ten, not five—just three. Research shows that focusing on a small number of key tasks helps us stay effective. I had a client overwhelmed by to-do lists; once we focused on his Big Three, he saw real results. When you narrow your focus, big things happen. 2. Time Block Your Calendar ? Time-blocking means setting specific blocks for specific tasks. For example, if I block 9-11 a.m. for prospecting, nothing else interrupts it. Studies show that time-blocking reduces stress and increases productivity. Treat each block like a meeting with yourself—because your time is valuable. 3. Use the Two-Minute Rule for Quick Tasks ?? Distractions are inevitable, but the Two-Minute Rule can help. If a task takes under two minutes—like a quick “yes” or “no” response—do it now. If it’s more involved, set it aside for later. This clears out mental clutter and keeps you focused on the big stuff. 4. Midday Check-In ??? Around lunch, take a moment to ask yourself, “Am I on track with my Big Three?” This midday check-in lets you course-correct before losing the entire afternoon. Think of it as adjusting your path to stay on target. Reclaim Your Day To recap: start with the Big Three, time-block, use the Two-Minute Rule, and check in midday. These aren’t just productivity hacks; they’re tools to help you reclaim your time, reduce stress, and make meaningful progress.
