It's North Texas Giving Day! Your support helps families like Araceli's focus on healing after a life-saving transplant. Araceli and her family traveled from El Paso to Dallas for her liver transplant, staying nearby for checkups and care after Araceli's surgery. With both parents unable to work during that time, the STA Foundation provided assistance to help with some of the costs back home. The latest stop on our 50th anniversary tour — Temple, Bryan and College Station! We had a wonderful Coffee and Connect at 1914 Coffee House, chatting with donor families, hospital partners and waiting list patients about their stories and support for donation. Thank you to City of Temple, TX, City of Bryan and City of College Station for issuing proclamations in honor of STA's 50 years of saving lives! We are grateful to reach this milestone and look forward to continuing to serve these incredible communities.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize the generosity of donor heroes, shed light on the significant number of Hispanics waiting on a lifesaving transplant and celebrate those who have been given a second chance like Francisco. In 2016, Francisco's life changed forever. He was rushed to the hospital after being unable to speak. Coworkers thought the severe swelling in his face was an allergic reaction, but instead, doctors found his kidneys were failing. A bacterium he was born with was silently causing damage, and Francisco’s only chance for survival was a transplant. He began dialysis three times a week and continued working to support his family back in Mexico. Five and a half years later, he received the call that there was a match for him. Since his transplant, Francisco has a new lease on life and is forever grateful, encouraging those still waiting never to lose faith and keep moving forward. Thank you to Infinite Legacy for allowing us to share Francisco's story.
