We had a fantastic time at the Downtown San Diego Partnership’s annual Create The Future Awards last week! The Downtown San Diego Partnership, a nonprofit organization, plays a crucial role in fostering economic prosperity and cultural vitality in Downtown San Diego through membership, advocacy, public services, and community investment. This event is a significant fundraiser for the partnership’s foundation, which is dedicated to enhancing quality-of-life aspects and backing special projects and initiatives for the betterment of Downtown’s neighborhoods and community. Our company President Jake Zeiter has been an integral part of the DSDP’s Finance Committee for several years and is set to join the Executive Board later this year. Our team got to celebrate someone special today! Natasha Petros, CPM®, ARM® officially received her CPM Designation from IREM San Diego today. She was inducted by her mentor and former IREM President Renee Savage, CPM, CCIM, while some of our team were there to cheer her on! We are beyond excited at Southwest Equity Partners, Inc. to announce four new hires joining our team this week!! Kathy Ilacqua has joined our team in a new role as Director of Marketing & Business Development! Kathy brings decades of marketing and sales experience to our team, most recently having led implementations at Rent. for clients throughout Southern California. Kathy will be focusing on business development and new property management client recruitment, in addition to assisting with property-level marketing and resident engagement projects. Rakhi Talsania is our new Controller! Rakhi has years of accounting experience in the property management industry, including locally in San Diego at CASAVIDA, CFI as well as throughout California, most recently at 2B Living. Rakhi will lead the accounting team at SWEP by managing our team of staff accountants, and her duties will include all financial reporting requirements for our clients, system implementation and process improvements. Beth Selbe has joined our team as our Administrative Assistant! Beth will be the first point of contact for anyone walking through our doors or reaching out to our team via phone. She will handle resident & vendor interactions, coordinate between various stakeholders and ensure a smooth flow of communication. We are excited to have her on the team! And finally Lauren Kelly has joined SWEP as a Portfolio Manager! Lauren joins the team having already overseen a diverse portfolio of multifamily properties in the South Bay region of San Diego, and will be responsible for managing those properties going forward as well as taking on new clients and projects for our team. We have also opened a South Bay office in Chula Vista with her assistance, allowing our team to continue to expand our reach throughout San Diego. We are constantly growing and improving our team at SWEP, and all four of these new additions will bring fresh ideas, new perspectives, incredible talents and a success-inspiring attitude to the team! Our team at Southwest Equity Partners, Inc. held our 4th annual kick-off meeting today! We got to spend time meeting our new co-workers (16 new hires in 2025 already!), resetting & elevating expectations, launching incentive programs, outlining new policies & opportunities for improvement and inspiring success in all of our team members! We also got to hear an incredible keynote speech from Azim Khamisa on conflict resolution, community engagement and restorative practices that we can all apply to both our professional selves and our personal lives. Unbeknownst to me prior to setting up the keynote, some of our team members had already been impacted by Azim & his foundation's work (the Tariq Khamisa Foundation (TKF)) in their own personal lives during their childhoods, and it was such a pleasure to see some of them reconnect with him and draw upon their early childhood experiences and connecting them to the people & working professionals they have become today. Quite an inspiring presentation! We are all looking forward to an amazingly successful 2025 at SWEP.
