SWAPA President Jody Reven, GAC Chair Chip Hancock, and Benefits Chair Brent Weisner had a productive week in D.C., meeting with key congressional leaders in aviation. Your representatives connected with our colleagues at McCarthy Advanced Consulting, NJASAP President Pedro Leroux, and Sen. Tammy Duckworth, SWAPA advocate and former military helicopter Pilot, and Sen. Ted Cruz, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. They provided them updates on SWA in the Elliott era, the MDW and DCA incidents, FAA leadership, ICAO nominees, bag fees, and more. They also met with Federal Flight Surgeon Dr. Susan Northrup to address delays in Special Issuances and the FAA Reauthorization & Innovation Initiatives and stopped by the office of SWAPA’s own — Congressman Jake Ellzey. SWAPA’s top legislative priorities for 2025 remain:? ? No single-pilot ops ? One level of safety and security in aviation ? FAA Reauthorization — ATC staffing, modernization and aeromedical reform Capitol Hill is one of many places you will find SWAPA representatives working to advance the interests of our membership as the most effective labor organization in the aviation industry.

SWAPA is looking to add a CBA Administrator to our Contract Administration team. This role supports Association members by fielding questions regarding our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), and requires interpretation of the CBA and research of its related communication. “We must earn the right to grow,” said CEO Bob Jordan as he, COO Andrew Watterson, and EVP of Operations Justin Jones visited the SWAPA BOD on Tuesday to provide updates on the business and take questions. While they stopped short of making any announcements, Jordan stressed the need to “question everything” and improve margins in the short term — via both cost and revenue improvements — while simultaneously making progress toward 3-, 5-, and 8-year plans.
