The Global Gateway Connector Bridge project for the City of College Park Georgia is coming to life! Last week, a key milestone in the project was achieved when the main arches were erected over Camp Creek Parkway. It was exciting to watch the guys at C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc., Banner Industrial Construction, Southway Crane & Rigging, and Clark Company move the parts into place and complete the 4 welded field splices 80-feet above the ground. For me, part of the story will always be the race against a hurricane, as its forecast track began to show a potential impact to our area as work progressed. I have enjoyed having a great partnership with C.W. Matthews and Prime Engineering, Inc. throughout this project, and we really leaned on each other last week. It was great to see Nicholas Altebrando fly in for a day well. Nick has been an incredible mentor to me at STV on this project. More to come! We should have bar hangers and steel framing for a bridge deck in just a few weeks.
