Based in South Minneapolis, Southside Harm Reduction Services works within a harm reduction framework to promote the human rights to health, safety, autonomy, and agency among people who use substances. Within our work we provide -Street outreach and deliveries within Minneapolis, providing free naloxone, safe use supplies for all drug administration routes, safe sex supplies, hormone kits, survival supplies, snacks, and more. -Community education including private trainings on harm reduction, how to respond to an opioid overdose, stigma, person-centered care, youth specific, HIV, drug testing, safe disposal, xylazine, and more. -Linkage to care -Secondary exchange -Community organizing and advocacy -Community clean up and more

This role is pivotal in providing rapid HIV and Hepatitis C (HCV) testing, general harm reduction services, and connecting participants to critical services supporting health, safety, and dignity. The Infectious Disease Specialist will organize and assist in the continued development of SHRS’ rapid HIV and HCV testing program. We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Volunteer Coordinator to support SHRS volunteers across all programing. This role is pivotal in providing harm reduction services and coordinating various activities to reduce overdose deaths and support our program participants' health, safety, and dignity. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily coordination of all SHRS volunteers, SHRS Team Leads and SHRS staff. The Volunteer Coordinator works to support SHRS programs and teams by coordinating volunteer efforts. This includes but is not limited to ensuring new and existing volunteers receive internal support from SHRS, volunteer onboarding, training, and mentorship. The position considers how to engage SHRS volunteers in a meaningful way. We've updated our spring supply drive to include art supplies! All items on this list are directly requested by participants, and get distributed during outreach and deliveries. Supplies can be dropped off at our office Mondays-Wednesdays, 2-6pm at 3104 16th Ave S, Minneapolis. Go to the *back door* via the alley and ring our doorbell; if you have any issues with the doorbell, knock on our windows (which have signs on them). You can also order supplies online and ship to us at: PO Box 7266, Minneapolis, MN 55407. Items we're collecting, new or gently used: -Adult clothes (size: M-3XL) -Adult shoes (size: 8+) -Tents (4 person+) -Sleeping bags New items only: -Socks & Underwear (size: M-XL) -Snacks (NO NUTS!) -Bottled drinks -Art supplies -Baby wipes -Lighters -Makeup If donating used gear: please wash items before dropping off, and make sure items are still in high quality condition. Calling all volunteers! Southside Harm Reduction is looking for volunteers to table at community events throughout the year. If you’re interested in volunteering for this role, please fill out this short form and we will follow up with you soon: https://lnkd.in/g_ukqpiM. Southside gets invited to table at many community events, like shows, health fairs, festivals, house parties, etc., and we rely on volunteers to table at these events. Tabling consists of handing out free naloxone, test strips, safe use, and safer sex supplies; providing education about harm reduction and Southside’s work; giving on-the-spot naloxone training; and selling merch. Training will be provided to all volunteers, and volunteers work in buddy pairs at events.
