St. Peter Lutheran School in Freedom, Wisconsin just finished their brand development project which included a new logo, brand message, Mission Statement, Educational Philosophy, and Culture Statement. We designers are not tools. After 15 years in graphic design, branding and advertising , I learned everything from color psychology to customer experience. But too often, I heard: Please use pink, I like it. Make it bold; I can’t see it. Design exactly what I said. Add more text/images. I don't just design what you like; I design what fits your brand—your personality, character, and message. The result? Premium designs, more impact, better brand cohesiveness, and increase in customer trust. Remember, a designer's decisions, opinions, and skills matter. Every day people say “creative is the greatest lever for your ad account.” And yet. People want to pay pennies for the “most important” part of the marketing. You must invest in content creation. That doesn't mean overspend, it means, have a budget on content and spend it.
