It was a privilege to convene our community's leaders last week to celebrate three years of SouthPark Community Partners—and to make the case for transformative investments in public spaces that nurture togetherness.

I'm fired up about everything that's happening at SouthPark Community Partners thanks to collaborative relationships, a focus on data, and innovation with an eye toward impact.

How do you #build #mobility #infrastructure? Some strategies from the esteemed panel from WSP, SouthPark Community Partners, City of Charleston, and RTA... Need money (of course ??)...referendums, special #assessments, #PPP, needs to be scalable, #paint a picture...a #story, provide something for everyone to #love, park once environment, microtransit (example Cherry Creek Denver), beta test (don't underestimate #proofofconcept), use data analytics to #learn/#adapt/#optimize, fully fund to quickly go to market, be innovative (https://lnkd.in/e-NYmmU2), build #champions, be #openminded, use apps/#technology, how do you appeal to generations? #Test, #Learn, #Implement #mindset Our WithersRavenel Site/Civil Lead Tucker McKenzie PE, SI (being #bold ??) had a great question...and needs to be answered...how do we fund public infrastructure to support development? Internationally touring art and local displays are lighting up SouthPark this holiday season. See how ?? The Electric Dandelions are internationally touring, 28-feet-tall LED light sculptures from California based art collective Liquid PXL. These pieces are lighting the lawn next to Legion Brewing SouthPark every night through January 11. In a partnership between local buiness and local art, 5 Charlotte-based artists were paired with 15 SouthPark small businesses to develop a series of festive window displays across the district. It's been about a month since we launched the SouthPark Skipper, a free microtranist service that offers free rides anywhere in the SouthPark district, daily from 9am-9pm. This program helps create more convenient and equitable ways to move around, and reduce the number of cars on the road, making it safer for pedestrians and cyclists and cutting down on traffic. From launch in mid-November through December 8, the Skipper has moved around more than 1,800 people, with an average wait time of 8.22 minutes! The Charlotte Ledger recently took a ride in the Skipper, and gave it an A+ rating, and journalist Colleen Brannan says: "As a part-time couch crime-solver, I was determined to find something wrong with the SouthPark Skipper service. But alas, I could not." When we published the SouthPark Forward 2035 Vision Plan in April, we promised that it would not sit on the shelf. Today, we're excited to fulfill one of the key recommendations in the Plan, and launch the SouthPark Skipper. This free microtransit service will offer free rides within the district every day from 9am-9pm, making it easier for workers, residents, and visitors to move around and advancing our region's shared transportation and economic development goals.
