We were happy to have W.K. Kellogg volunteer with us this week! In our Clean Room, they repackaged 5 pallets of cereal into family sized bags for our neighbors facing food insecurity. Thank you, W.K. Kellogg, for joining us to eliminate hunger in our community!

The Mitten Club is South Michigan Food Bank's monthly giving program, offering sustainability and support for our mission to provide essential nutrition and promote well-being across the eight counties we serve. This holiday season, a Mitten Drive is being hosted in honor of our monthly givers! Mittens and gloves collected will help fill The Mitten Tree at Salvation Army on December 6th. The Mitten Drive will run from November 1st- November 30th. Bins will be located at Honor Credit Union locations in Battle Creek and Coldwater, as well as at our distribution center in Fort Custer Industrial Park. Tomorrow is Make a Difference Day, and we'd like to thank Dr. Wilcox for making a difference in our community by hosting another pumpkin decorating contest this year. The contest aimed to raise funds and collect food for SMFB. Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Wilcox and her team, as well as the local businesses who participated, enough funds and food were collected to provide over 8,700 meals to our neighbors facing food insecurity in South Michigan! Thank you so much for using your creativity to make a lasting impact! ??

This weekend, we will be partnering with the Battle Creek Post Office for the National Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. ?? As a reminder, if you received a Stamp Out Hunger bag in the mail, please be sure to have your food donations out by your mailbox on Saturday. ?? In addition to our emergency distribution in Portage today, we will also be hosting a distribution on Friday, May 10th in Centreville. We are committed to supporting our community during this difficult time. Join us in spreading warmth and hope to our neighbors in the midst of this severe weather crisis.

Our hearts go out to those affected by the severe storms yesterday in Southwest Michigan. We stand with you during this challenging time. We will be hosting an emergency food distribution tomorrow, Thursday, May 9th in Portage to support our neighbors amidst this tragedy. Specific items will be available to accommodate those who are experiencing power outages. In times of hardship, community is our greatest strength. Let's continue to stand united! ??
