Large car rental agencies are in BIG trouble. They've grown too large, lost touch with their customers, and are unable to pivot. They overbook, under-deliver, and provide an all-around terrible customer experience. When people cringe at the sound of your company name, names like Hertz, Enterprise, Avis Rent a Car, and Thrify Car Rental, you have a massive problem. If I owned stock in any of these companies I would dump it all now. Just as Airbnb revolutionized the hotel industry, Uber disrupted taxis, and Netflix transformed video rentals, Turo is poised to shake up the car rental landscape. However, even Turo has its shortcomings, with some hosts lacking the professionalism and experience needed to deliver a seamless customer experience. I've personally experienced the pitfalls of Turo, having a trip cancelled hours before pickup due to a host's intrusive questioning. This lack of accountability and disregard for customer privacy is unacceptable. The car rental industry, as a whole, needs a major overhaul.
