Today is #MemorialDay ???? The Southern Nevada Veterans Chamber of Commerce offers our deepest respect and heartfelt appreciation for those men and women who gave everything to defend our country. As we enjoy the various events and gatherings of the holiday with our loved ones, be sure to take a moment to remember, reflect, and also be intentional in taking a few minutes to check on a friend in the veteran community who might have difficulty today.

Extremely proud to have NV Energy as a trusted partner and a sponsor of our efforts in the community. Inspiring to see the diverse ways that they are dedicated to serving our military community!
“During the holidays, our employees always go above and beyond to rally around community initiatives that support a variety of causes,” said Jimmy Daghlian, NV Energy’s Vice President of Renewables. “By coming together to support military servicemembers and their families, communities create a network of support that extends beyond the holiday season, providing a foundation of ongoing relationships and collaboration.” From the Operation Warm Heart delivery in the south to Adopt a Vet in the north, thank you to all our employees who participated in bringing holiday cheer and memories to our local #Military and #Veteran families! ?

Here’s a tiny snapshot of this past Saturday’s inaugural Southern Nevada Veterans Chamber of Commerce Veteran Awards Holiday Gala, held at the ARIA Resort & Casino. Special thank you to our extremely dynamic keynote speaker, Maj Gen Ondra Berry, Adjutant General for the state of Nevada. Everyone was blown away and we are very thankful for having you there to deliver a powerful message sir! We were also thankful to make a first of many contributions to Wreaths Across America, to assist with their efforts of remembering and honoring those militsry heroes laid to rest in our local community in Boulder City. A big congratulations to our inaugural award winners, extremely well deserved and we respect and admire your amazing work in the community. Such a great time, and it was an incredibly elegant experience for our veteran community to enjoy. Thank you to our event sponsors Veteran Benefits Guide, Executive Option, NV Energy, MGM Resorts International, Nevada National Security Sites, Concerned Veterans for America Foundation for helping us to make it possible, and all of our friends throughout the community who donated to our raffle and silent auction. An especially huge thank you to our gala planning committee for a wonderful job seeing the mission through! Mission success!

Yesterday’s events at University of Nevada-Las Vegas were a lot for our local community to process. Our thoughts are with the students, families, and faculty members affected by yesterday’s tragic events on campus. There are different support services being offered across our community for those who were on campus and dealing with the trauma that comes from an event like yesterdays. These support activities involve getting students away from the campus and hopefully focusing their minds on something other than being on the campus.
