Many thanks to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District and the N.C. Forest Service for hosting the SGSF Communications Committee today for a insightful tour of B. Everett Jordan Lake and the dam! This area showcases multi-use forest management in action - balancing flood control, water supply, recreation, timber management and wildlife habitat. A key part of this landscape is the Jordan Lake Educational State Forest, managed by the NC Forest Service. This living classroom provides hands-on forestry education while demonstrating sustainable land stewardship. With multiple agencies working together, Jordan Lake is a great example of how collaboration ensures our forests continue to serve our diverse needs for generations to come.

????? As the Southeast braces for this rare winter storm - we hope that everyone remains safe! If you’re planning to stay warm with a cozy fire, remember: Buy firewood where you burn it! ?? Transporting untreated firewood can spread invasive pests and diseases, threatening our forests. Protect southern forests by only sourcing firewood on-site or purchasing certified heat-treated firewood. Stay warm and safe, folks! #Buyitwhereyouburnit #dontmovefirewood
