Last week Zack Perkins, Alan Morgan, and Melissa Parsons were onsite with our newest RMS / CAD customer team members at Radford University for data review. The University is excited and ready to make the change and join several area agencies using Southern Software’s ever expanding line of solutions. ***Important Interface Notice*** It has come to our attention that AT&T-FirstNET will be cutting off access to SMTP relay as a method of sending text messages to subscribers on 6/17/2025. You determine if your agency is using email to deliver to these carriers by going to Tools > Program Settings > Texting > Carriers from the main CAD-DE application menu and checking your carrier setup list. If it shows SMTP as the Connection Type and you have not taken steps with AT&T-FirstNET to register your agency, text messages will be sent from CAD-DE services and will most likely show success to your email server, but will not be delivered to the recipient devices. If you are currently using email to send to AT&T or FirstNET carriers there are few options outlined here: www.att.com/StopEmail2Text As an agency, you can go through the steps outlined in their support article, sign up for FirstNet or Verizon's EMAG enterprise messaging service which offer timely delivery guarantees, or set up an agency specific Twilio account to deliver text messages on your behalf to recipients. While this for now only affects AT&T-FirstNET, we anticipate that other carriers will take similar actions in the future to help in securing their networks from unauthorized access and to aid in cutting down the number fraudulent spam text messages.
