关于我们
In 1985, the American Burn Association (ABA) established 10 regions in the United States. These regions were patterned after the same regions the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma have for their regional organization. Region IV (the southeastern region) comprised eight states: North and South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. The initial charge to the regions was to develop disaster plans specific to that region. A regional director was appointed in each region to be the official representative of the ABA, and was charged with the responsibility of facilitating the development of the regional disaster plan. There has been a significant evolution of the ABA Region IV. It was established originally by the ABA Board of Trustees in 1985 comprising eight states: North and South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. In 2006 the ABA Board of Trustees approved the addition of Virginia, Arkansas and Louisiana to the region, and also approved the name change to the Southern Burn Region. At its 2011 meeting the ABA Board of Trustees approved the addition of West Virginia, Texas and Oklahoma to the Southern Burn Region. This now gives us a total of 15 states in the Southern region with a total of 37 burn centers.
