At Hello Sono, we empower clinicians with point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) to enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve patient care, and reduce healthcare costs. One of the most impactful applications? Distinguishing between CHF and COPD exacerbations in minutes—right at the bedside! Case Example: A 72-year-old patient with CHF and COPD presents with worsening dyspnea and mild wheezing. Is it fluid overload or a COPD flare-up? The treatments are vastly different, and time is critical. Instead of sending the patient for additional imaging or to the ED, the provider performs POCUS on the spot—revealing B-lines and a dilated IVC, confirming CHF exacerbation. Treatment is initiated immediately, preventing an unnecessary ED visit ($750–$1,500) or hospital admission (~$10,500+ per stay). How POCUS Transforms Care: ?? Early & accurate diagnosis – Detects CHF with 88-97% sensitivity ??Saves $1K–$10K per use by reducing avoidable ED visits & admissions ??Improves patient experience – No unnecessary tests, faster treatment ?? Want to learn more? Tatiana Havryliuk, MD recently authored an article for Southern Medical Association News on this very topic. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gSKZnK3k POCUS isn’t just a diagnostic tool—it’s a game-changer for value-based care. At Hello Sono, we help providers integrate ultrasound into their practice with training, image review, and implementation support. ?Ready to bring POCUS to your practice? Let’s talk! • Did you know?

#1 POCUS saves $1K-$10K per visit when it’s used for early diagnosis of heart failure exacerbation.

#2 It accurately distinguishes CHF from a COPD exacerbation.

Check out Tatiana Havryliuk, MD's article published in Southern Medical Association News. The article presents a case of a patient with calf pain, where POCUS was used to safely and efficiently rule out a blood clot (DVT). By performing POCUS in the office, the provider avoided the need for an ED visit—saving the patient time, stress, and unnecessary expenses. ?? Did you know? ?? POCUS allows providers to evaluate life-threatening conditions like DVT in under 5 minutes. ?? Avoiding an ED visit can save approximately $1,800 in healthcare costs. ?? Proximal leg POCUS is highly sensitive (96%) for detecting DVT when performed by trained providers. ?? Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dk73qQhB ?? Curious about the financial impact of POCUS? I'm thrilled that my article, "A 57-Year-Old Woman with Calf Pain: The Role of POCUS in Primary Care," has been published in Southern Medical Association News! (link below) Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is transforming how we approach diagnosis and treatment in primary care. In this article, I share a compelling case study demonstrating how POCUS was used to quickly and accurately rule out a blood clot (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT) in a patient with calf pain. KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1. POCUS allows for real-time evaluation of life-threatening conditions, such as DVT, in under 5 minutes. 2. Each time you choose to do POCUS, instead of sending the patient to the ED for a DVT rule-out, you save approximately $1,800 in healthcare costs! 3. Proximal leg POCUS for evaluation of DVT is highly sensitive (96%) when performed by a trained provider. It is sufficient for a complete rule-out of DVT when paired with a D-dimer in low- and moderate-risk patients. Explanation of the graphics in this post: 1. The clip illustrates full compression of the veins at the right saphenofemoral junction indicating the absence of a clot. It's that simple! 2. The 2nd graphic shows the required views for a 3-point compression POCUS to evaluate proximal veins of the right leg. The first 3 locations are all in the groin region and are considered "1 point." Please share your story. Are you sending patients to the ED to rule out a DVT because you don't have access to vascular ultrasound? Are you currently using POCUS, and if so what's been your and your patients' experience? ?? Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eerpkGPy ?? Curious about how POCUS can impact your practice’s bottom line? Check out our new ROI calculators to see the potential reimbursement for POCUS using 2025 Medicare physician fees. Explore the calculators here: https://lnkd.in/gAdGsgSX #POCUS #PrimaryCare #clinicalexcellence #MedicalEducation #ROI #HelloSono #SMA

    • Full compression of saphenofemoral junction indicating no DVT.
    • POCUS views of the right lower extremity for evaluation of proximal deep veins.
