关于我们

SMT specializes in precision machined components and assemblies primarily for the aircraft, aerospace, and defense industries. We have 23 CNC machines, including a waterjet deburring machine, 6 horizontal mills (3 of which are on a 23 pallet FMS and 1 has its own 6 pallet system), 1 high speed, 4-axis, vertical mill, 4 vertical mills with capability up to fifth axis positioning, and 11 lathes (some with live tooling). Our 2 newest CNC lathes are twin spindle, have twin Y axis turrets with live tooling, and are in a cell with a Fanuc robot. Some of our niche capabilities include: -Complex internal and external deburring and finishing under 10-40x magnification -Process to create precision .0005" tolerance bores with less than 16 microfinish, and 11 sigma capability -Precision surface treatment applications that eliminate the need for masking when parts require a combination of anodize and chemfilm, which results in clear and consistent edges every time.

  • We were honored to host Cadets from West Point’s American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM) Student Chapter for a tour of our facility! Their enthusiasm was contagious as they saw firsthand how Lean Six Sigma, Systems Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering are applied in precision machining for aerospace and defense. We appreciate their insightful questions and engagement and wish them continued success in their studies and future careers!

Cadets from West Point’s American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM) Student Chapter traveled to Tampa, Florida to observe firsthand how Engineering Management is applied throughout the military and industry.   🔹 General Dynamics - Ordnance and Tactical Systems: Corporate leadership and our Cadets discussed the application of continuous improvement processes, supply chain management, and financial analysis within the defense industry. 🔹 SOFWERX: Cadets learned about how this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supports SOCOM and tackles special operations challenges through grassroots innovation and design. 🔹 Southern Manufacturing Technologies, Inc.: The group toured a high-precision machining facility that specializes in the use of mills, lathes, and advanced manufacturing techniques. Cadets witnessed the production of a wide range of items, including UH-60 Blackhawk engine parts and subcomponents of satellites. 🔹 IndyCar: Our Cadets attended the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg where they received a behind-the-scenes brief from IndyCar’s Safety & Medical Response planning team, observed the systems employed during technical inspections and pit crew operations, and learned about the aerodynamics engineering employed in cutting-edge race car design.   This incredible experience showcased the real-world impact of engineering management across defense, innovation, manufacturing, and even motorsports!
