SOLUTION:?Many plants have extended downtime during the holidays. Shutting down your machines with a good purge, followed by a shutdown and seal purge will help reduce start–up costs.?Work with your supplier to determine the right purge for your operation, and follow their recommended procedures to perform the shut down and then start-up.?Planning ahead and performing a proper shutdown and start-up purge will reduce your start-up costs by reducing start-up scrap.?Following a good preventative maintenance schedule utilizing a purging compound during machine and plant shutdowns will pay dividends in the long run.
