Today is World Diabetes Day ?? Diabetes is a challenge for millions of people, and it can be especially difficult for underserved families who already face disparities in housing, education, and economic opportunities. At Southeastern Community Action Partnership, we support families by raising awareness of these challenges and helping connect them to resources that can improve their quality of life. This year, we are especially grateful for important advancements, including caps on the cost of insulin, which make life-saving care more affordable and accessible. Through our Head Start and Early Head Start programs, we focus on reading to help build skills and confidence, opening doors to a lifetime of learning. Although National Custodian Appreciation Day was celebrated in October, we believe it’s never too late to show our gratitude! At all of our Head Start Centers, we’re incredibly grateful for the hard work and dedication of our custodians who keep our spaces clean, safe, and welcoming every day. ?? Custodians are the behind-the-scenes heroes of our schools and workplaces. Our Piney Grove Head Start held an appreciation ceremony to honor their custodians. ??♀? Last week, our Piney Grove Head Start Center had some very special guests! ?? Local deputies, including Deputy Erica Evans and our very own Head Start alum, Deputy Willie McRae, stopped by with Eddie the Eagle to teach our students about gun safety. ?? The kids learned the important steps: "Stop! Don’t Touch. Run Away. Tell A Grown-Up." Through the Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program, we’re helping them stay safe and aware. ??
