Great People Doing Extraordinary Things!

关于我们

Southeastern Container is one of the largest PET converters, providing PET bottles, PET preforms, and HDPE pallets for the Coca-Cola bottling system. It all began in the early ’80s when a group of Coca-Cola bottlers wanted to purchase a key raw material, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) packaging, at a lower cost. They envisioned using technology and innovative processes to enhance and create better packaging. This common thread united the group, and in 1982, Southeastern Container, Inc. (SEC) was founded as a cooperative, allowing the members to purchase products at cost. Our first plant, which included injection molding and blow molding, opened in 1982 in Enka, NC. Over the years, adding new bottler members resulted in significant growth for our team. Today, we provide preforms and bottles to over 50 Coca-Cola operations in the US and Canada in 34 states and six Canadian provinces, stretching from Quebec to Florida and as far west as Montana. Our dedication to quality and the use of state-of-the-art technology transformed us from a single manufacturing plant into a world leader in the beverage industry.

? Employee Spotlight: Mary Moffitt In honor of #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, SEC is proud to spotlight Mary Moffitt, Administrative Manager for Team Enka. Mary’s deep connection to her Native American roots has shaped her perspective on history, culture, and personal growth. From a young age, Mary was fascinated by history, with a special focus on the Native American culture that resonates strongly with her. With a grandmother who was a history major in college, Mary had the privilege of learning from someone who instilled in her the importance of understanding one’s heritage. “My grandmother always made sure I was proud of my roots,” Mary shares, a sentiment that has stuck with her throughout her life. Mary’s Native American heritage comes from her great-grandmother on her father’s side, who was 100% Cheyenne. Born and raised in Florida, her great-grandmother’s journey took her to New York. Growing up in New York, Mary was surrounded by Native American culture, with the Iroquois reservation nearby offering her countless opportunities to learn. One of the most impactful experiences occurred when Mary visited the Seneca-Iroquois museum with her parents. There, she participated in an activity where children were asked to create bracelets using three colors of their choosing. Mary selected red, black, and white, feeling that the colors complemented each other well. When a Native gentleman asked why she chose those colors, he explained that they represent the “medicine wheel” and the balance of life, connecting the cardinal directions (North, East, South, West). He went on to suggest that Mary might be part Native American, a conversation that deepened her pride and connection to her heritage. Mary’s journey with SEC began in Jan. 2023, when she joined the corporate finance team as an accounting administrator. After gaining invaluable experience in finance, Mary transitioned to her current role as Administrative Manager at the Enka plant in Dec. 2023. In her new position, Mary has had the chance to grow within SEC, making meaningful connections with colleagues and contributing to a positive work environment. “I’ve learned so much in finance, and I’ll always be grateful for that experience,” Mary reflects. “This new role has allowed me to further grow within this great company, making strong connections to what matters most, its people." “Regardless of one’s heritage, it is important to know and understand the history behind it. Know where you come from, know the struggles and triumphs that have occurred so that the bad does not repeat, and so that the good is celebrated as it deserves it be,” Mary says. In honor of her Native American background, Mary leaves us with this Cheyenne proverb: “Our first teacher is our own heart.” Mary, thank you for sharing your story and for making SEC a better place through your dedication, wisdom, and leadership. We are proud to celebrate you and your heritage this Native American Heritage Month!

This #VeteransDay, we celebrate and honor the remarkable career of Bill Bock, whose service to our country and leadership within SEC have made a lasting impact. Bill’s journey began long before his time with SEC. After joining the U.S. Air Force, Bill served for 9 years as a maintenance technician working with the Titan II and Minuteman II Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) systems in Wichita, Kansas, and Great Falls, Montana. In the wake of the 9/11 attacks, Bill answered the call again by joining the U.S. Army Reserves. Assigned to a Combat Heavy Battalion, he deployed to Iraq in 2005, where he played a vital role in upgrading Forward Operating Bases and ensuring the safety of convoys throughout the Iraqi Theater of Operations. After transitioning from the military, he joined SEC as the General Manager of the Beloit, Wisconsin plant, where he led the plant’s startup. Over the next 16 years, Bill held key positions at several SEC plants, including his most recent role as the General Manager of Team Cleveland. His leadership, combined with his vast knowledge of operations and manufacturing, has driven success and innovation at every turn. In preparation for his upcoming retirement, Bill has transitioned into a new role as Special Projects Manager. In this capacity, Bill has been helping SEC navigate special initiatives, providing strategic guidance and continuing to share his vast industry knowledge. Bill has always been deeply involved in his local community, supporting causes like food drives, veteran organizations, and the Chamber of Commerce. His role on the University of Wisconsin’s S.T.E.M. advisory committee further highlights his dedication to education and career development. During the height of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, Bill also served with the Patriot Guard Riders. Though his professional and military accomplishments are outstanding, Bill’s personal life is equally inspiring. Born and raised on a small farm in Ohio, Bill learned the value of hard work early, milking cows before and after school and on weekends. He has been married for 41 years to his wife, Ramona, a Nurse Practitioner, and together they have raised 3 children who have each gone on to make their own mark in the world. When asked about his time in the military, Bill humbly shared, "The greatest honor I have had was serving our country, doing my part to secure and maintain the freedoms our forefathers sacrificed so much to give us. We have so much to be thankful for and we should always remember that many gave away their future for those freedoms." As Bill looks ahead to retirement, we thank him for his exemplary service—both in uniform and at SEC. Bill’s dedication to his country, his work, and his family has set an inspiring example for all of us. We wish him the very best as he embarks on the next chapter of his life. #HappyVeteransDay, Bill. Thank you for your service and your continued leadership.

On September 27th, Hurricane Helene swept through Asheville, NC, leaving behind catastrophic damage in its wake. Communities were devastated, and many of our dedicated employees at Southeastern Container lost everything — their homes, their belongings, and their sense of normalcy. In the face of such destruction, the true spirit of the Southeastern Container family shined through. Our four locations outside of Western North Carolina rallied together to support their fellow coworkers. Every one of our locations organized donation drives to assist our employees impacted by the storm, gathering everything from financial contributions to essential supplies and personal items. This outpouring of support is a reminder of the incredible strength, compassion, and resilience that define our company culture. We may be spread out across multiple states, but when one of us is in need, we stand together — united as one family. To our employees, partners, and communities — thank you for your generosity and unwavering support during this difficult time. We will rebuild, we will recover, and we will emerge even stronger, together. #SoutheasternContainer #StrongerTogether #HurricaneHelene #CommunitySupport #Resilience #OneTeamOneMission #ThankYou

In the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastation, our Southeastern Container family came together to lend a helping hand to our community. Six dedicated employees and one of their daughters volunteered at ABCCM - Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry, sorting and organizing donations that have poured in from across the country. In times of hardship, it’s inspiring to see how compassion and teamwork can make a difference. We are proud to support our neighbors and contribute to the recovery efforts. Together, we can rebuild and emerge stronger. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up during this challenging time.
