Happy PesaPoa Day! Today, we celebrate the 4th anniversary of the digital working capital facility created and managed by SouthBridge Investments. PESAPOA is a special-purpose vehicle aimed at overcoming the financing gap for MSMEs, with a strong gender-lens investing approach that prioritizes female-led, female-owned, female-sourcing, and female-impacting businesses, as well as young entrepreneurs in Africa. By providing digital working capital loans to women-inclusive MSMEs and young entrepreneurs, we also monitor their development and impact on job creation and climate action as part of our due diligence process and the fund’s impact objectives. Additionally, PESAPOA targets net direct and indirect GHG emission reduction, increased purchases of clean energy as a percentage of total energy sources, improvements in water and energy efficiency, better waste management practices, and revenue growth through smart agricultural practices. Honoured to announce Dr. Frannie Leautier, Senior Partner and CEO, SouthBridge Investments, will be speaking at the Keynote Opening event "Digitalising Africa's Green and Blue Economies" at #AGES25! Dr. Frannie Léautier is Senior Partner and CEO of SouthBridge Investments. She has worked in the public, private and and not-for-profit sectors. She was previously Vice President African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and Chief Operating Officer Trade and Development Bank Group - TDB Group, and served fifteen years in several senior roles at the The World Bank, including as Infrastructure Director, Vice President, and Chief of Staff to the President. She also was Executive Secretary of the The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF). She serves on the board of UNFoundation, Orca Energy Group, Norsad Capital, CFAO, Les Eaux Minérales d'Oulmès, FSD Africa, and Momentum/ Metropolitan Life. She chairs the Investment Committees of The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) and Birimian Ventures. She was co-Chair on World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Agenda Councils, previously on the boards of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), Institute for Security Studies (ISS), King Badouin Foundation US (KBFUS), Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), African Risk Capacity Ltd. and ODI, and World Resources Institute (WRI). She has authored several books and was distinguished professor at Sciences Po Paris.
