Thanks Metabase for sharing this post! Love being able to help our clients quickly make sense of the hundreds to thousands of data points they're gathering from their customers during the normal course of business.

When implementing Snowflake for our clients, we love to follow a couple of practices to keep costs in check: 1. Dedicate a separate warehouse for third-party tools (dbt Labs, Metabase, Omni etc.) - this isolates their workloads and makes it easy to see where cost is coming from and areas of opportunity for optimization 2. Test warehouse sizes systematically - Most business can start with x-small and test from there - as a general rule if a larger warehouse more than doubles the speed of executing a query, you'll save overall costs 3. Set auto-suspend to 1 minute on your warehouses - only in rare cases will this cause you to face a meaningful negative impact on performance 4. Monitor idle warehouses religiously - auto-suspension helps, but watch for warehouses sitting idle just below the threshold
