The South King Tool Library provides equal access to tools and training in order to help maintain neighborhoods, build community and reduce unnecessary consumption. We welcome new members, volunteers and donations. A tool library operates much like a traditional library, allowing borrowers to check out tools and equipment to care for their homes, yards, gardens and more. We provide instruction on proper tool use, host repair cafes to help you fix things and work together to build better lives in South King County.

Transforming a Vision into Reality Sometimes, all it takes to bring a vision to life is the right tool in the right hands. Recently, a community member borrowed a tile saw to complete a stunning outdoor kitchen—a space where meals will be prepared, laughter will be shared, and memories will be made for years to come. The photos tell a story of craftsmanship and dedication, showcasing how a single resource can empower someone to create something extraordinary. This is what community is all about: sharing resources, skills, and support to help each other build not just kitchens, but better lives. To the hands behind this project—well done! Your work is an inspiration. What’s the next project you’ve been dreaming of? Let’s make it happen together.
SKTL is proud to be of service our communities. We love seeing our neighbors complete projects - whether passion projects or necessary maintenance. We are here to help you! Our Mission: The South King Tool Library provides access to tools and training in order to help maintain neighborhoods, build community and reduce unnecessary consumption with households of all forms including low-income residents and under-served populations. What projects will you be working on this winter?
This past weekend, we had the privilege of hosting our second annual fundraising event at the South King Tool Library (SKTL) in Auburn, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the turnout from our community. From purchasing delicious baked goods to donations for tool grab bags, your support helped us raise vital funds to sustain and grow our mission. More importantly, it gave us the opportunity to connect with so many of you about the SKTL, the value of shared resources, and the powerful role the circular economy plays in building a more sustainable future. If you missed the event, it’s not too late to make an impact. Consider becoming a member, donating to our mission, or spreading the word about tool libraries. Every tool borrowed, class and event attended, and dollar raised brings us closer to a stronger, more sustainable community! Visit southkingtools.org to learn more and get involved. Thank you for your generosity, engagement, and shared commitment to creating a better tomorrow. We couldn’t do it without you! #SouthKingToolLibrary #CircularEconomy #CommunityImpact
