Our crews unloaded 11,000 tons of steel cargo, while Delaware River Stevedores, Inc. put their brand-new 40-foot Tandemloc Inc. beam spreader to the test. ???Wondering what that is? It’s like a super-sized lifting tool, specially designed to keep wide or awkward loads stable – ideal for handling heavy-duty cargo with precision! South Jersey Ports honors all veterans and their service to our nation with a special Veterans Day recognition for the dedicated veterans who are a vital part of our team. ?????? We hosted a breakfast in their honor, featuring special guest Senator Nilsa Cruz-Perez, a proud U.S. Army veteran, who shared inspiring words and reflections on the sacrifices made by those who serve. Each veteran was then presented with certificates and tokens of appreciation by our leadership as a gesture of gratitude for their service. This breakfast reception was a meaningful time to come together, not just as colleagues, but as a community, celebrating the contributions of those who have served. Today and every day, we honor your service and commitment to our country and our organization. Thank you and Happy Veterans Day!

#ThrowbackThursday at South Jersey Ports!?? Today, we're diving deep into the archives and sharing some amazing photos from our past! Did you know that the South Jersey Port Corporation's history stretches back almost 100 years? It all started on March 10, 1925, when the Delaware Port Commission was created by the New Jersey Legislature. By 1926, the South Jersey Port Commission was established to develop and maintain port facilities across several counties, including Camden, Gloucester, and Cape May. Fast forward to 1968, and we became the South Jersey Port Corporation, continuing to drive economic growth and provide opportunities for the South Jersey region. Over the decades, we've seen incredible milestones—from opening the Beckett Street Terminal in 1931?to the launch of the Paulsboro Marine Terminal in 2017. Busy Days at Balzano Terminal! The Balzano Terminal is bustling with activity as we welcomed two vessels this week. Our crews worked to discharge an impressive 53,000 metric tons of gypsum from the Jabal Alkawr, supporting vital industries in our region. Additionally, they efficiently unloaded approximately 24,500 metric tons of steel products from the Jasmina D (pictured here).

We were proud to support the 55th Annual Ports of Philadelphia Maritime Society’s Crabfest, an event that raises funds for scholarships and helps pave the way for future maritime industry leaders. This fantastic event brought together the community for a great cause, and we were especially appreciative of PhilaPort’s Dominic O’Brien who really got into the spirit by rocking an awesome crab costume! ???? A huge thank you to the Maritime Society for hosting such a fun and impactful event, and to everyone who came out to support scholarships for the next generation! Exciting Rail Infrastructure Expansion at South Jersey Ports Take a look at the ongoing transformation at Balzano Marine Terminal, where we’re upgrading our on-terminal rail system to meet the latest Conrail standards! With the dedication of Port staff, the expertise of Tracks Unlimited LLC, and the generous support of the New Jersey State Rail Freight Assistance Program Grant, we’re investing $8 million to enhance our rail infrastructure—boosting efficiency and sustainability for our customers. What does this mean for our customers? ? Increased Efficiency: We’ve doubled the capacity for loading rail boxcars at our onsite storage facilities, streamlining cargo handling and reducing turnaround times! ? Operational Improvements: The improvements address potential issues with mismatched loading platform heights and steep grades, ensuring smoother operations. ? Expanded Cargo Space: More outdoor laydown areas mean we can handle even more cargo, improving our capacity to meet customer needs. We’re proud to take these big steps toward delivering better service for our customers while keeping sustainability in focus.
