Investing in the next generation of ag journalists —?I was recently asked by South Dakota State University Alumni Association to mentor an aspiring ag broadcaster. And it turns out it’s one I'd met before! Ella Stiefvater interned with KRVN and the Rural Radio Network and even did ag updates on NTV News. What a small world to connect with an SDSU student who wants to work in my field and find that we've been on similar paths, including in Nebraska. I love telling the story of the American farmer and helping amplify their voices through the media which is something Ella is also passionate about. It's been fun to connect with a fellow Jackrabbit! She was recently up for National FFA Officer and I'm excited to see where her career takes her!

Yesterday kicked off another year of the mentoring program through the South Dakota State University Alumni Association! There are 169 student mentee/alumni mentor matches in just the third year of the program. Wow! What a testament to the power and passion of Jackrabbit nation! ???? Honored to be selected to serve again this year and excited to learn and grow with my new mentee, Addisyn Sargent! Kudos to Travis Jensen and the team at the Alumni Association for their efforts! Go Big. Go Blue. Go JACKS! ??

This year I’m honored to participate in the 3rd annual South Dakota State University Alumni Association Alumni mentor program. Yesterday, the program kicked off in Brookings and I enjoyed an evening of connecting with fellow mentors and mentees. I’m looking forward to the growth and opportunities ahead! We are excited to announce the launch of our 3rd cohort of the SDSU Alumni Mentor Program! 169 mentor/mentee pairs are embarking on this journey starting with the Annual Kickoff Event that took place last night. Alumni and students packed Woster Celebration Hall and joined us via Zoom to get this year's cohort rolling. Stay tuned throughout the year as we share our mentor/mentee spotlights, stories, and the memorable moments they create through these professional relationships. #GoJacks! #MentoringMatters
