The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $4,000 South Dakota Fund grant to Faith Alive Community Church. Funding will assist in providing funds for BelieveFest, an annual event that provides much needed school supplies to approximately 900 children from families with financial need. BelieveFest began as a way to respond to the high number of families in the Huron area who struggle financially to provide their school-aged children with their basic necessities for school. The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) recently awarded a $10,000 South Dakota Fund grant to High Plains Heritage Society. Funding will be used to assist in replacing lighting along the handicap accessible walkway and replacing the crumbling concrete steps. High Plains Heritage Western Center (Center) honors the pioneers, Plains Indians, and industries that developed throughout South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, and Nebraska. The Center is also a venue for events, such as their annual Cowboy Supper Shows, High Plains live concerts, speakers series, and other events occurring during the May through October tourist season. Established in partnership with South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF), this fund has invested over $1 million into the Spearfish area.
