This month’s theme explores #water #utility #finances and features compelling articles you won’t want to miss, including a member spotlight on South Coast Water District. In the article, General Manager Rick Shintaku shares his approach to #water #management, discussing how his #financial foresight and #innovation align with #environmental goals, particularly through projects like the Doheny Ocean Desalination Project and more. “The future of water is about innovation, whether that’s through desalination, water recycling, or smarter infrastructure,” he states. “But it’s also about ensuring these solutions are financially viable. We have to plan for the long term, making decisions today that will pay off for decades to come.” Additionally, the newsletter includes articles such as “The First Month of Trump 2.0: What Does It Mean for Water?” In this piece, AMWA Manager of Regulatory Affairs Kaline Gabriel, MPH and Manager of Legislative Affairs Megan Seymour examines the early actions of President Trump’s second administration, including executive orders, #regulatory changes, and #congressional budget negotiations—and their potential impacts on water sector policies and #funding.
